While there are other low-cost mesh WiFi system options, Netgear Orbi has proven to be the most popular. However, it appears like Netgear Orbi has some of the least accessible technical support of any device on the market today.
Resetting your Orbi is unfortunately very frequent, whether it’s due to unexpected downtime for no apparent reason, a problem that won’t go away no matter what you try to do to it, or an update to the firmware that you didn’t request. This is not to imply that the Orbi is a terrible product in any way. In fact, we have the Orbi ranked higher for performance than the much more expensive Amazon eero Pro and higher for speed and range than the Linksys Velop.
When everything else fails, however, a factory reset orbi is your only option. Resetting an Orbi is the most reliable method to bring your home’s WiFi back up, but it will erase all of your settings in the process.
Options to Reset Orbi
1st Method — Netgear Recommended
This is the way that Netgear recommends using to reset the device. This reset should be the last one you need in 90%+ of situations. The procedure, thankfully, is straightforward.
- Turn on your Orbi router.
- The “RESET” button on Orbilogin needs to be located. This little hole may be found at the bottom of your router’s back panel. You’ll find the button on the far right hand side of the controller, close to where all the ports are.
- Press and hold the reset button for 7 seconds or longer using a flattened paper clip, toothpick, or thumbtack. In order to know how long you have been holding the button, the green “POWER” LED should begin blinking amber.
- All settings on the device have been restored to their original factory defaults at this point, marking the end of the reset process. A device’s reset and subsequent power on may take a couple of minutes.
2nd Method
It’s possible that the standard procedure for resetting everything to factory settings won’t be effective in your particular situation. If the preceding reset procedure does not work, go on to the next stages. The origin of the moniker “30-30-30” reset should be immediately apparent.
- Turn on your Orbi router.
- The reset button must be held for 30 seconds while the power is on ). If you’re done, don’t hit the reset button.
- Then, after pressing and holding the restart button for 30 seconds, switch the power “OFF.” Never let go of the reset button again.
- Hold the restart button for another 30 seconds after turning the power back “ON” on the device.
- The time has come to restore the gadget to its factory settings.
The previous instructions should be reread if this doesn’t work. Verify that the reset button was not accidentally released during operation. While doing the instructions, you should keep your finger on the reset button (using a paper clip) for a total of 90 seconds.
3rd Method
You may attempt one more strategy if the first two don’t pan out. Obviously, if this doesn’t work, you’ve reached the point of no return and must contact technical assistance.
Aside from the power wire, remove all other connections from the Orbi.
- Turn on your Orbi router.
- To use the first technique, press and hold the restart button for 7 or more seconds. Stay your finger on the reset button for now.
- Next, keep holding the Orbi’s restart button for 7 seconds after unplugging the device. Don’t let go of the power button just yet, though.
- After reconnecting the Orbi, keep holding the restart button for 7 seconds.
- At this moment, you may safely let go of the reset button.
What to do After Reset is Complete?
All of your customizations and settings will be deleted with a factory reset. Plus, you’ll need to re-pair the Orbi to the satellites. The good news is that it’s not too difficult to get set up. Repeat the same procedures you used to set everything up.
Last words
If none of these three ways of resetting the router works, it’s probably time to contact Netgear’s support team. I’m assuming you paid for the pricey extended warranty that includes tech assistance. Honestly, you can go around on some other discussion forums, and one of them could have the solution to your precise query. There is still hope, so don’t give up and visit orbilogin.com.
