Nine people have died in a deadly car collision in Ilorin which happened in the early long periods of Sunday.

The casualties whose transport was supposed to convey fuel in Jerry jars were scorched to the point of being unrecognizable, DAILY POST reports.

The accident happened before Ilorin Airport along Ilorin – Eyenkorin street, as indicated by the Sector Commander, FRSC Kwara area order, Corps Commander Jonathan Owoade, whose Officers and men completed the salvage activity at the location of the mishap.

He said the accident happened at around 0800hrs, including a Toyota Hiace Bus with enlistment number AFN 06 YL and a Toyota Corolla cantina vehicle checked LRN 787 FE with 17 individuals included.

An onlooker account revealed that “the Toyota cantina vehicle was driving out of the Airport while the Lagos bound Hiace Bus was on maximum velocity along the interstate.

“The transport slammed into the vehicle bringing about loss of control and it landed sideways in the center of the street, the transport disintegrated right away.”

He said, “an aggregate of nine individuals involving eight ladies and one man got scorched to the point of being unrecognizable while five men supported different levels of wounds and are right now getting treatment at Ilorin General Hospital, while three men inside the cantina vehicle got away unharmed.

The consumed casualties, he added, have been saved at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

The area Commander saw that the accident was avoidable and cautioned the motoring public against wild driving and trying not to keep PMS inside jerricans while on an excursion.

He liked the Kwara State rescue vehicle administrations for the arrival of ambulances as a reinforcement.

The Sector Commander sympathized with the groups of the people in question and guaranteed the public that the corps will keep on endeavoring hard towards guaranteeing that such lamentable episodes are shortened on our streets.
