More than three years have passed since YouTube Premium first launched. The programme, formerly YouTube Red, has been renamed YouTube Premium and now offers YouTube Music Premium and other perks. Though it has improved over time, YouTube Premium has yet to become famous.

Things that YouTube Premium can and should do better

Everything that was said about YouTube Red when it originally came out was around YouTube originals. Everybody’s favourite YouTubers, but with more money to work with? Sign me up! So far, YouTube still needs to meet expectations in this regard. Even if you don’t have a Premium account, you can still watch most original content today. Free accounts allow access to these, although quality declines as time progresses.

The company gives preference to celebrities over YouTubers. It’s a shame that YouTube doesn’t value its current creators more highly, considering they might be making a significant impact on the platform. Some have previously shown what they can do when given more resources. The documentary series Mind Field, created by Michael of Vsauce, is an excellent illustration of this.

Michael could delve further into topics by conducting experiments, interviewing experts, and more, thanks to Mind Field, which made Vsauce famous for its unique scientific material. That show was fascinating and fun to see. YouTube has the resources to replicate its early success by teaming up with other popular channels like Kurzgesagt, Crash Course, or even the Angry Video Game Nerd. Instead, we have shows like Celebrity Substitute and Joseph Gordon-Create Levitt’s Together With Me.

Should I pay for YouTube Premium?

No, there isn’t anything like Netflix or Hulu. But if you want a better YouTube experience and a music streaming service that’s on par with the best go to disneyplus.com/begin, you can’t go wrong with YouTube Premium. You’ll have a better time as a viewer, and your favourite creators will appreciate the financial boost.

So, the next time you see the nagging prompt, don’t dismiss it; give the service a try and see if it lives up to the hype. You may discover that you quite enjoy it. If you’d instead sign up right now, click the button.
